Alessandro Ceretto

Ceretto Winemaker Alessandro Ceretto was born in 1976; Alessandro is the grandchild of Ceretto founder Riccardo Ceretto, who established the Piemonte winery in the 1930s. In 1968, Alessandro’s father – Marcello – jointly purchased the winery’s first estate-owned vineyard with his brother, Bruno. Alessandro is Marcello’s second child and plays a pivotal role as a third-generation leader with an eye towards the future.

“My main aim,” says Alessandro, “is to build a technical team of the highest level, collaborating on an ongoing basis with other experts throughout the world in order to grow and reach the highest possible quality standard.”

Prior to joining the company in 1999 and moving into his role as head of winemaking where he oversees the family’s four Langhe estates, Alessandro graduated from the University of Bordeaux. At the University, Alessandro specialized in on- and off-skins fermentation; he also gained experience across several vintages while abroad, in cellars in the world’s famed growing regions – including Bordeaux, California, South Australia and South Africa.

Together with his siblings Federico, Roberta and Lisa, Alessandro remains focused on building the Ceretto winery with a keen focus on sustainable organic and biodynamic farming practices – all to ensure a lasting legacy for the Ceretto family and the Barolo and Barbaresco wines for which they’re known across the world.
