Laura Orsi

Tenuta Regaleali Winemaker Laura Orsi was born and raised in Milan; she earned a Ph.D., cum laude in Food Preparation Sciences from the University of Milan in 1994 and a master’s degree in Enology from the University of Piacenza in 1996.

More than twenty years ago, Laura moved from the bustling city to work in the Sicilian countryside at Tenuta Regaleali, the winery and storied home of the Tasca d’Almerita family since 1830. She became Tasca d’Almerita’s head enologist in June of 2004 and presently oversees winemaking operations for all of Tasca’s five estates, working with a diligent team of agronomists and enologists and collaborating with Consulting Winemaker Carlo Ferrini.
When taking on her role, Laura accepted the challenge to take the wines of Tasca to a new level by experimenting with native varietals. Years of dedication and patience along with a sincere fondness for teamwork brought Laura success on both a national and international level. Her commitment to the craft was recognized by Guida del Giornale di Sicilia; the publication named her winemaker of the year in 2010.

According to Laura, “a wine should be emotional, balanced and above all else express its own unique identity.” Laura also believes wine should show well through all phases of its life, like a long-distance runner – a style reflected in Tenuta Regaleali’s portfolio of award-winning wines.
