Miguel Angel de Gregorio

Miguel Ángel De Gregorio is one of the most recognized and respected winemakers in Spain, owing largely to his passion and elevation of the Rioja region and its wines across the world.

Miguel Ángel was born in Almodovar del Campo (Ciudad Real) in 1964. Involved in viticulture and winemaking, his family moved to Rioja when he was nine months old. He studied agriculture engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain and earned degrees in viticulture and oenology in addition to his Master of Business Administration.

At the age of 25, Miguel Ángel began at Bodegas Breton, where he created Dominio de Conte – a wine that quickly brought him acclaim. He later became a consulting oenologist for numerous wineries in Spain, worked as a professor of oenology in the University of Mardid and Logroño, and participated in a variety of viticulture and oenology research projects.

In 1995, Miguel Ángel started Finca Allende in Rioja and relaunched the family property Finca Coronado in Ciudad Real. Nine years later, he started Finca Nueva with the goal of creating approachable wine that further solidified Rioja’s reputation. Finca Allende and Finca Nueva formed partnerships with Trinchero Family Estates in 2019.

Miguel Ángel now lives in Logroño with his wife Ana and his two sons – Miguel Ángel and Ricardo – where he remains passionate about viticulture, history, and exploring new wine projects.
