Lee Miyamura

Iron + Sand winemaker Lee Miyamura brings a world of knowledge to the Paso Robles brand. The 30+ year Paso Robles resident has a robust tenure in winemaking. With experience spanning more than 37 harvests, she knows the ins and outs of crafting Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon.

Lee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Sonoma state, where the art and science of wine captured the attention of her analytical mind. She began her career in St. Helena at Beringer Vineyards as a quality assurance technician and wine chemist, then transferred to Paso Robles in 1990. Following her move to California’s Central Coast, Lee ascended from lab manager to senior enologist to manager of production winemaking to director of premium winemaking, Central Coast–each role bringing with it more responsibility as she built her career overseeing the winemaking team at Beringer’s Paso Robles site. In 2016, Lee ascended further within the company; Treasury Wine Estates promoted Lee to winemaker and tapped her to craft some of the company’s leading offerings.

Lee’s talents caught the eye of Trinchero Family Estates in 2021; her unparalleled understanding of Paso Robles accumulated across decades of experience made her a perfect match for the Iron + Sand brand. Today, Lee maintains her mantra: “Winemaking is about coaxing the grape into transforming itself into an expression of its terroir–the soil, the climate, and a sense of place.” With Lee at the helm, Iron + Sand continues its vineyard-driven approach that tells the story of Paso Robles–as well as Lee’s storied Central Coast career–with every sip.
