Joel Gott Oregon Pinot Gris 2015
The 2015 Joel Gott Pinot Gris has aromas of Fuji apple, ripe peach, and honey with floral notes. The wine opens with crisp flavors of Bartlett pear followed by the light sweetness of Honeydew melon, and a long, balanced finish with bright citrus flavors.
We source fruit from Oregon’s Willamette Valley because of its ideal growing conditions for Pinot Gris. Fruit comes from vineyards located in the sub-AVAs of Dundee Hills, Yamhill-Carlton, Chehalem Mountains and McMinnville areas, all situated within the northern part of the Willamette Valley and bordering the Oregon coastline, as well as from the greater Willamette Valley AVA. Sourcing fruit from diverse terroir and microclimates helped to create a well-rounded, fruit forward wine. The 2015 growing season mirrored the year prior with little rain and warmer than usual temperatures throughout, allowing fruit to evenly ripen and for flavors to fully develop without fear of weather complications.
After being harvested, the fruit was hand sorted and gently pressed before going through a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to help preserve the varietal characteristics and acidity.
