Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Rich and elegant, the Terra d’Oro 2014 Bricco Red presents inviting aromas of spicy oak enhanced
by lush, ripe, red fruit. On the palate, this wine showcases bright, spicy strawberry, and lively, earthy
flavors, finishing with an elegant hint of smoked meat and earthy truffles. This red blend is a nod
to traditional Italian winemaking with a modern twist. It is recommended to pair this wine with
marinated lamb kebobs, a zesty quinoa salad, or delicious baked ziti.
Vineyard Notes
In Italy, the finest vineyards are located on the hilltops. These hilltops are known as Bricco and they
produce the region’s best fruit. Here at Terra d’Oro, we have created a limited-release Bricco blend
of our own with fruit sourced from our finest vineyards throughout Amador County. Made up of
Syrah, Grenache and Petite Sirah, all three varietals included in this blend thrive in the very thin, well-draining, rocky soils in the Shenandoah Valley along oak dotted hillsides
Winemaker Notes
Once harvested, the fruit is collected in a combination of half-ton bins that are hand-punched down
into stainless steel tanks, allowing the winemaking process to have more control over fermentation.
After the fermentation process is complete, the wine is aged for 30 months in French oak barrels
(25% new) before it is ready for release to our club members.
