Available Pinot Grigio 2014
The 2014 harvest in Puglia, Italy was cool and wet. Rain and weather conditions resulted in an early harvest. Partnering with meticulous farmers resulted in perfectly ripe fruit with slightly lower alcohol than average. This wine has great balance and a softness which makes it easy drinking and enjoyable. Look: Clean and transparent. Nose: Aromas of fresh lemon and lime, melon and pineapple jump out of the glass. Ripe white peach and papaya are also present on the nose of this classic Pinot Grigio. Mouth: There is richness in Pinot Grigio from Puglia that is unlike any other Pinot Grigio. Crisp citrus, pineapple and guava initially dominate the approach. This wine is full-bodied and balanced with bright acid and grapefruit flavors and a hint of creaminess on the finish. 2014 Pinot Grigio puglia, italy TAKENWINE.
Although Josh and Carlo grew up in Napa Valley, they enjoy wines from around the world and wanted some of their other favorite wine regions to be Available to their friends. Since they both have Italian roots, Italy was an obvious choice for the first layover on their quest for fantastic grapes from around the world. After visiting sub-regions in Italy, they ultimately selected Puglia as it was the ideal spot to craft Italian wines that are approachable and fruit-driven – perfect for the American palate. Today Italy is Available, but the journey doesn’t stop there. Stay tuned for the next location - be among the first to know by following on Instagram @takenwine.
Taken Wine Company was founded in 2009 when next generation winemakers, Carlo Trinchero and Josh Phelps realized their mutual dream to start their own wine label. Josh and Carlo grew up together in the winegrowing town of St. Helena, in the Napa Valley—wine is in their DNA. The wines are crafted to appeal to the millennial generation in terms of both what’s inside and outside the bottle. The names (Taken, Complicated, and Available) all tie into social media and are relevant to their generation.

Tasted at a Carrabba's wine dinner this week. We all agreed this was one of the best Pinot Grigio's we have ever had (and we have had many). This wine has depth and complexity without being heavy.

I had this wine at a restaurant in Crossroads Keys, Baltimore, Maryland. It was fabulous. I tried to find it at Total Wine in McLean, Virginia when I returned home. I was very disappointed as they didn't carry it. One of the best Pinot Grigios I have ever had!! Soft and light without losing complexity. Please let me know where to buy it in the Washington, DC area.
